Brief History and Collective Vision
The Eagle and the Condor Liberation Front (ECLF) was envisioned at UCLA in October of 2017. Started primarily as a student organization, ECLF expanded beyond student politics to center the diverse Indigenous community of Los Angeles while working through the contours of the university. Since the organization’s inception, the main focus of organizing has been conducted through political education, food sovereignty, internationalist solidarity, and public Indigenous speaker engagements.
ECLF has dedicated its work toward building with surrounding Indigenous communities, as well as migrant and urban Indigenous peoples in the area. Our vision is rooted in the autonomy and self-determination of all Indigenous people across the continent of Abya Yala. In the spirit of the Eagle and the Condor, we believe that reunification is beyond recognized sovereign nations and includes those unrecognized, displaced, deterritorialized, detribalized, and de-Indianized. Thus, our work recognizes the interconnectedness and interdependent joint struggle we have with all oppressed people under coloniality, capitalism, and settler nation-states.
There is no liberation without relational and collective struggle.
We are for life of Earth against the empires of death.
